Senior Computer Systems Officer - Office Of The Ed, Enterprise Technology Services

An exciting opportunity is available for a permanent full-time Senior Computer Systems Officer. As the Senior Computer Systems Officer, you will support effective and efficient service delivery by providing accurate and timely service, system and operational reporting. You will be responsible for the supporting the monitoring platform and will develop and deliver reporting insights for ICT services and technology through as the identification and analysis of relevant data and information.

About the Role:

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

• Utilise Power BI, SCOM (System Centre Operations Manager), and other reporting and monitoring tools to undertake proactive analysis and provide accurate and timely reporting, system notifications, and data visualisation to the team and stakeholders regarding system, infrastructure, and service availability issues.
• SCOM administration: performs numerous SCOM administrative activities such as configuring alerts, system thresholds, system-generated events, maintaining monitoring and notification rules, and various monitoring and reporting tasks based on the team's or stakeholder's requirements.
• Provide detailed reports on various critical systems and applications to assist the team's discussions on sustainable resource management, investment, and budgetary decisions.
• Engage key stakeholders, assess monitoring data sources for tool ingestion compatibility, and develop monitoring and event handling thresholds by enabling the essential ETL (Export, Transform, Load) procedures.

Manage and maintain monitoring tools based on defined thresholds, and adjust event tool configuration in accordance with business requirements.

Highly desirable skills and experience;

• Prior experience developing PowerBI reports and dashboards
• Prior experience managing monitoring platforms such as SCOM and/or Dynatrace
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and database management tasks
• Be a committed team player, display leadership qualities, and work collaboratively.
• Exceptional attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A high level of professional integrity and pursues continuous growth.
• Ability to work autonomously, managing a high workload within defined timeframes.
