About the roleFTI Consulting’s Corporate Finance and Restructuring (CFR) segment focusses on our clients’ strategic, operational, financial and capital needs addressing the full spectrum of financial and transactional opportunities and challenges managed by their boards, management, private equity sponsors, creditors and other stakeholders.The Business Transformation (BT) team within our Perth CFR practice delivers important advice at critical times to an impressive international client list, including business improvement, modelling, valuation and corporate / commercial analysis and advice, with a particular strength in mining, mining services and project related businesses. The team is led by former senior executives of significant resources and infrastructure businesses and their advisors, providing the opportunity for the successful applicant to gain professional development experience, coupled with industry insights.The BT team also works closely with the practice’s Restructuring and Insolvency team, providing comprehensive solutions in informal restructuring and advisory engagements, along with formal insolvency matters such as voluntary administrations and receiverships across a breadth of industries and businesses of all sizes. FTI Consulting was awarded Turnaround of the Year in 2021 for its work on one such matter, for the team’s efforts in saving and recapitalising ASX listed gold producer, Gascoyne Resources Ltd.Currently, an exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Consultant to join our Perth BT practice.The successful candidate will gain exposure to a broad variety of situations, from “healthy” growth oriented matters such as delivering financial models and business case analysis for high project value feasibility studies, to stressed and distressed situations such as Gascoyne Resources or others which are successfully kept away from the headlines - where our “live”, pragmatic advice can make the difference in saving a business.What You’ll Do
  • Analyse business operations, financial performance, opportunities, and challenges at critical times
  • Build comprehensive three-way financial models producing life of project cashflows for both established and to-be-developed resources and infrastructure projects, to best practice standard, applying FTI Consulting’s established precedents and industry experience.
  • Review and analyse financial statements, projections and assess business plans.
  • Contribute to transaction support activities such as financial due diligence engagements.
  • Liaise closely with mid-level and senior client executives, developing trusted relationships and gaining valuable experience and insights by working closely with them to analyse and optimise critical aspects of their businesses. Develop, cost and articulate a range of solutions for profit improvement and to optimise opportunities.
  • Develop and assist implementation of precise and measurable plans to improve business performance.
  • Performing financial, ratio and comparable business analysis
  • Attending client sites performing duties and collating information required
  • Preparation of draft reports, presentations, and correspondence

  • Resilience, a strong willingness to learn, positive attitude, and desire to embrace challenges.
  • 2-4 years professional experience (preferably with Big 4 accounting firm, Private Equity, or a boutique investment house)
  • Strong financial analytical and quantitative skills
  • Medium to strong financial modelling skills highly desirable
  • Presentation style report writing experience highly desirable
  • Knowledge of fundamental accounting and business/commercial principles desirable
  • CA/CPA qualification preferred, but not essential.
  • Driven to deliver high quality client service and deliverables with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work under pressure to achieve best possible outcomes for our clients.
  • This role may require travel to client and FTI offices.
