Job DescriptionAre you interested in working on a statewide, $62bn project to transform the power system across Queensland?
The WT QLD Infrastructure team are collaborating with a major client on a project to build an Energy Infrastructure SuperGrid, which represents a new generation of energy storage and transmission. This SuperGrid will integrate all elements of the electricity system, enabling the achievement of great renewable energy goals by 2035.
Due to this un-paralleled growth, we're looking for apassionate Senior Cost Engineerto work within our Brisbane Infrastructure team.Ideally, an established Cost Engineer with a Civil & Infrastructure background, experience in complex estimating on major projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Focal point and technical lead for project budget and cost management
- Develop, maintain and analyse cost in the estimating database, and assist in cost managing across all facets of engineering, procurement, subcontracts, construction, pre-commissioning and closeout
- Preparing accurate and detailed variance analysis of actual costs vs planned and financial baselines
- Competent experience using CostX and other estimating software
- An ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications
- A thorough understanding of project logistics and project schedules
- Presenting and explain project cost reports to company stakeholders and clients
- Continuous improvement of the cost control process and service
- Coaching and mentoring of Cost Engineers
- A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of DTMR specifications
- Ideally experience working on site for a civil contractor as a site/project engineer
- Relevant tertiary qualification in any of the following areas: Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- At least 5+yearsexperience as a Civil / Cost Engineer (or similar)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage a team and control multiple projects/client commissions
- RICS / AIQS accredited candidates will be highly regarded
- Proficient in the use of Cost X
- A thorough understanding of the total project life cycle, fromconception, through to completion and post-project review
- Experience in Primavera P6 and MS Project, with an understanding in staging and programming of civil infrastructure projects
- Other local authority and state government department project experience
- Experience across many sectors (road, rail, power transmission,water/dams)
- RPEQ, or ability to obtain RPEQ in the future
- Full Australian working rights and currently located in Brisbane
