Job description

Deliver expert and specialist cybersecurity consultancy services, technical solutions and/or technical project management to deliver to agreed strategy and solve complex technological issues. Through the application of cybersecurity expertise and standardised project methodologies, interpret policy, implement strategy and scope requirements to achieve results and enhance service delivery in line with the Department’s broader organisational goals.

Within this context, the Senior Cybersecurity Consultant provides expert advice and specialist support to stakeholders, plans, designs, tests and implements effective information security technology solutions, develops and maintains standards to ensure business continuity, undertakes deep research and analysis, and produces frameworks and/or plans.

The Role:

  1. Deliver complex technical consultancy, project or business as usual (BAU) within the assigned business unit to provide fit for purpose solutions. This may include: providing expert support and customer service to improve business capability; ensuring service continuity; investigating and resolving complex issues and incidents; analysing and mapping functional specifications; developing policy, methodologies and standards; integrating or modifying systems or processes; guiding and supporting team members to build team capability; champion new ways of working to optimise effectiveness.
  2. Lead assigned consultancy/projects/BAU taking accountability from planning to completion. This includes: identifying stakeholders, securing and coordinating resources, expectation management, risk management, and providing timely and accurate technical solutions to support outcomes. Manage budgets as directed, prepare business cases and contract management documentation and work closely with the line manager to set priorities and monitor progress for assigned activities.
  3. Provide high level specialised advice, direction and guidance to the Senior Manager Cybersecurity Services, customers and other stakeholders. Identify and address complex issues such as planning, implementation and delivery of innovative, cost-effective and sustainable technical solutions that meet customer requirements and improve the customer experience. The role may be required to represent the branch at business forums or meetings.
  4. Support and foster a culture of high performance, positivity and teamwork by adopting a visibly collaborative, consultative and service delivery approach to consultancy/projects/BAU activities that encompass the following:
      • Establishing clear objectives and performance expectations;
      • Engaging with colleagues and stakeholders to builds respect, resilience and proactive conflict resolution;
      • Coaching, mentoring and information sharing to build capability within the broader team; and
      • Identifying and raising staffing and/or code of conduct issues and/or issues of risk, probity, compliance with legislation and/or policy.

The Team:

The Health ICT Cybersecurity Services team leads the Department's effort to secure its digital information and systems. We provide specialist technical and risk management advice, cyber incident monitoring, detection and response, workforce cyber awareness and training, and security design/engineering support for digital technologies. Our work underpins community trust and confidence in the delivery of healthcare to Tasmanian citizens and supports the Department's Digital Health Transformation.

Details of Appointment

Permanent full time day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $124,371 - $130,905 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Eligibility:

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  1. Appropriate tertiary qualifications in business management, ICT, information management or a cybersecurity related discipline
  2. A security clearance of Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) or the ability to obtain one
  3. Current Driver’s Licence

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
