Our client, an established VIC Govt organisation is on the lookout for experienced Data Modellers.
The Data Modeller will be working in a newly formed Data Modelling team and taking leadership of data modelling best practices in a business domain. The team is responsible for defining Data Warehousing Data Architecture and taking ownership of conceptual, logical, and physical models.
Your new role
This Data Modeller will be driving Data Architecture alignment in a specific business domain and taking on hands on data modelling tasks, such as creating and maintaining logical and physical data models that are consistent with standards and guardrails from Data Modelling Chapter, in large greenfield projects. Data Modeller will also be responsible for advancing and promoting Data Architecture and Data Modelling standards and guardrails
The Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensure data architecture alignment in business domains
- Plan, coordinate and provide high level expertise within the tribes/squads
- Work closely with business stakeholders and business analysts on defining business requirements
- Advise and implement best practice data modelling in projects
- Create and maintain logical and physical models in modelling tool and Bitbucket
- Be involved in projects to drive alignment to data architecture and modelling standards and guardrails
- Work closely with the development team to implement data models
- Champion/Advocate modelling designs where required
- Implement data modelling governance framework
- Peer review data modelling artefacts
- Strong industry knowledge of business domains and apply the knowledge in data models
- Strong consulting and business analysis skills
- Ability to influence management decisions across organisational boundaries
- Stay current with latest technologies and data modelling methodologies
What you'll need to succeed
This position would suit an applicant who has demonstrated experience with Data modelling:
- Proven Experience in Reference Data Management
- Advanced in Dimensional Modelling and Data Vault Modelling
- Strong SQL skills with experience in implementing data models in databases
- Experience in Entity Relationship Modelling
- Minimum 5 years Data Modelling experience is expected
- Experience with InfoSphere Data Architect or Erwin is desired
- Insurance or Financial services experience is highly advantageous
- Excellent presentation, communication, and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, information technology, or data modelling
