Senior Data Strategist | Nsw State Government

Our NSW State Government client provides a diverse range of essential services to reduce criminal activity and enhance protection of the communityAbout the Role
They are currently seeking a Senior Data Strategist to join their growing team in Parramatta with some flexibility to work remotely from home. This an estimated 6month temporary assignment, with a potential to extend.Working within the Policy and Evidence Business Unit, you will partner with the R&A data team and the Strategic Support Digital Project Unit team to progress the data strategy and provide framework for managing data moving forward. This will also involve liaising with stakeholders across Government data teams and participating in the Closing the Gap Data Officer Level Working Group to address how the organisation will implement Indigenous Data Sovereignty and Governance and engage the sector in data sharing.Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the data strategy aligned with business objectives
• Partner with stakeholders to understand data requirements and to establish effective data governance practices
• Develop and implement data governance policies in line with Indigenous Data Sovereignty principles
• Drive and be accountable for tasks including stewardship, metadata management, tracing data lineage, building governance workflows and creating data dictionaries
• Preparation of high level documentation including communications, letters, briefings, reports and correspondence
• Ensure information is factual, accurate and responses are provided within agreed timeframes
• Contribute towards continuous improvement initiatives
• Keep abreast of policy developments in state and national levels whilst understanding their impact on the analytical work being undertaken
• Maintain up to date knowledge of analysis, modelling, research and evaluation methodologies
• Ensure compliance with best practice and legislative requirements

• Solid analytical, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work autonomously and part of a team
• Superior organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise conflicting deadlines
• High attention to detail
• Strong computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office suite

Requirements

• Demonstrated Senior Data Strategist experience
• Proven Human Services or indigenous Sector experience
• Thorough understanding of data governance
• Willingness to undergo a National Police Check
• Ability to commence and commit to the duration of the assignment
