About the Role
The Development Services branch enables sustainable development for the community on the Sunshine Coast by working with industry stakeholders to achieve timely, customer focused development assessment services, advice and advocacy in the areas of planning, engineering, environment, landscape, building, plumbing and legislative compliance.
The Senior Development Compliance Officer provides leadership and management for the Development Compliance team, which is responsible for development and land use compliance services and advice; achieving good development outcomes for our community in accordance with the planning scheme and other relevant legislation and policies.
As the Senior Development Compliance Officer, you will:
- Provide leadership to your team through mentoring, coaching, training, advising, guiding, empowering and supporting.
- Coordinate complex Development Compliance complaints, investigations and actions in accordance with the provisions and processes in the relevant legislation and policies.
- Manage, process, assess and negotiate on a range of complex and potentially sensitive Development Compliance matters, working with a multi-disciplinary team while maintaining a strong customer service focus.
- Adopt a strategic approach in initiating research and implementing innovative methods to progress and implement Council's Development Compliance procedures and systems.

This position is primarily remote, but is based at the Sunshine Coast City Hall, in the heart of Maroochydore CBD. This state of the art and sustainable building is designed to achieve an innovative and collaborative workspace.
About you
You will possess strong leadership skills which allow you to promote and imbed a customer focussed approach with demonstrated time management and a proven track record of initiative and autonomy in making decisions with contemporary project management practices.
You want to chip in and help, relishing the variety and complexity of our projects and the professional growth they provide.
You will have demonstrated ability to operate effectively within a political environment and the overall structure and business operations of a large local government.
Ideally, you will also have detailed knowledge of and experience with relevant legislation, regulations, standards, polices, planning scheme and state government codes.
As a requirement of this role, you will possess recognised qualifications in urban planning and/or Development Compliance, with demonstrated application and high-level experience of such learning in the workplace.
