The role:
We are currently looking for a talented and experienced DevOps Engineer to join their talented award-winning team to build best-of-breed eCommerce solutions.
The DevOps Engineer plays a critical role in proposing and implementing cloud architectures, deploying high-complexity web applications, maintaining developer environments, and providing system administration support. They are proficient in Linux environments, cloud computing, CI/CD concepts, and agile methodologies. This role requires strong collaboration skills within cross-functional Agile SCRUM teams and a commitment to delivering high-quality software solutions.
Work on-site during the probation period (6 months), then hybrid role, 3 days in the office
Senior, and Lead profiles will be considered
Primary Responsibilities:
- Propose and implement cloud architectures.
- Deploy high-complexity, large-scale, and performant web applications built by Aligent.
- Create and maintain developer environments.
- Support staff through general system administration.
- Build and extend solutions for Linux (especially Centos and Ubuntu) using shell-scripting, PHP, Puppet, Chef, and Ansible.
- Work with AWS and local environments running in Vagrant, Docker, and VirtualBox.
- Provide basic hardware fault finding and analysis.
- Help debug system and network-level customer issues.
- Collaborate with Digital Designers and Software Engineers to deliver technical solutions as part of an Agile SCRUM team.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Linux operating systems, particularly Centos 7.
- Expertise in Linux virtualization technologies like KVM/QEMU, Docker, and VirtualBox.
- Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts, with notable experience in AWS.
- Extensive experience in developing for and deploying to public clouds, notably AWS.
- Advanced skills in AWS services, including varnish, nginx, Apache, Redis, and MySQL.
- Proficiency with version control systems like Git, Linux command-line interface, and Integrated Development Environments (IDEs).
- Intermediate-level grasp of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) concepts.
- Ability to assess and manage technical risks at an intermediate level.
- Competency in estimation and requirements gathering, with the ability to engage effectively with clients.
- Familiarity with PCI DSS and experience in developing secure software.
- Basic understanding of Agile software development methodologies, particularly SCRUM.
- Demonstrate a software engineering mindset, initiative, and ethical standards.
- Collaborate effectively, communicate clearly, and show passion for software development.
- Exhibit quick learning, proactive problem-solving, and a commitment to the open-source community.
