Senior Economist/Data Scientist/Analyst
- Salary: $106,534 - $128,897 (Plus Superannuation)
- Fixed term until 31 January 2025
- Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)

The Senior Economist/Data Scientist/Analyst will lead economic and statistical analysis to inform big picture policy reform opportunities. They will develop clear and compelling evidence-based recommendations for a broad range of policy issues affecting Victorian communities and businesses. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated record in developing statistical and mathematical models to inform and evaluate government policy/projects to inform decision makers and will have some experience with relevant programming software such as Stata, R, Python or equivalent.
The Team
The position of Senior Economist / Data Scientist / Analyst forms a part of the Economic Policy, Projects and Coordination Group.
- Conceptual and analytical ability: Demonstrated expertise in conceptual thinking and sound analytical approaches to support decision making in the work area.
- Statistical analysis: Demonstrated technical expertise in data manipulation and statistical analysis.
- Policy analysis: Demonstrated experience in analysing government policy using conceptual frameworks.
- Project management: Demonstrated ability to lead projects, including establishing the scope, planning an approach and driving outputs with little supervision.
- Self development: Ability to develop technical expertise by identifying new analytical approaches and developing capability in these approaches through self-learning by relying on publicly available materials.
- Initiative and Accountability: Proactive and self-starting. Seizes opportunities and acts upon them.
