Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Senior Engagement Officer on a contract for 12 months with potential extension.
Position Overview
The APS6 Community Engagement and Communications Officer is a team membership position that may be required to perform work that involves team leadership and management responsibilities including the setting of priorities and managing workflows of a team. It will require working collaboratively within the team including sharing and developing specialised knowledge in areas of expertise.
The position has reasonable autonomy and accountability to exercise both initiative and judgment to interpret legislation and policy, in the application of practices and procedures to achieve outcomes within the functions.
The APS6 Community Engagement and Communications Officer will provide detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems.
The role will have a considerable level of public contact in relation to complex, difficult or sensitive issues. It may liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders in a representational role on behalf of the branch and wider Agency.
The role is required to perform engagement and community stakeholder relationship management as part of a team. Key aspects of the role include presentation and public speaking, relationship management and administrative support. It will require working collaboratively within the team including sharing and developing specialised knowledge in areas of expertise
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Building strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate and deliver the department's participation in a diverse range of small and large scale events, including information sessions, forums, conferences and webinars.
- Delivering clear, concise and effective messaging to people with disability, their families and carers as well as other community and mainstream stakeholders.
- Producing content for a variety of channels including NDIS website, Ministerial and Executive Briefings, event materials, social media and other communication platforms.
- Providing logistical management and advice to the Agency to deliver proactive and nationally consistent engagement activities, including the provision of logistical support at external forums and events.
- Contributing to the implementation and operationalisation of a targeted, proactive engagement strategy, including a forward planned engagement calendar, aligned to the corporate plan, broader Engagement Strategy and with branch and divisional business plans.
- Working with the leadership team to promote and implement best practice stakeholder and engagement management model, founded in the concepts on consultative and collaborative engagement.
- Coordinating critical data analysis and feedback to measure effectiveness of activities and strategies, including identifying associated risks and trends.
- Undertaking document management of event documentation to support team and senior leadership visibility on event planning status, risk management and data collection.
