About the role
As our Senior Engineer - Congestion Modelling, part of the WA Operations team, you will be responsible for power system analysis, modelling, and reporting, to ensure short- to medium-term security, reliability, and resilience of the SWIS considering the rapid energy transition. This role is located in Perth.
What you will be doing
- Be the subject-matter-expert (SME) for constraint management and other congestion-related systems in the South West Interconnected System (SWIS), such as Security Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED), Outage Management (OM), etc.
- Formulate and maintain Constraint Equations (for any errors, new Network elements, new Facilities, potential violation of Power System Security/Reliability, market inefficiencies, etc.)
- Have primary responsibility for SCED network congestion mode
- Lead and provide consultation advice on SWIS congestion to the Operations Planning team and Control Room in managing SCED
- Represent AEMO in giving expert advice on congestion analysis to external stakeholders, and industry working group
What you will bring to the role
- Qualifications in Electrical Engineering or other discipline relevant to power systems analysis
- Knowledge of electrical power system modelling and analysis tools, such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, and Python
- Demonstrated experience in power system networks and operations
- Understanding of electrical engineering principles, specifically related to electricity generation and transmission system theory, analysis, and modelling
- Experience in negotiating the resolution of complex technical issues across stakeholders with competing objectives and a variety of commercial and reputational drivers
