About the EPA
The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is South Australia’s independent environment protection regulator. The organisation works to protect, restore and improve the environment through the risk-based regulation of pollution, waste, noise and radiation. EPA works closely with industry, the community and government to protect the unique natural environment while supporting economic growth and improving wellbeing. The EPA is responsible for the administration of the Environment Protection Act 1993 (EP Act) and the Radiation Protection and Control Act 1982 (RPC Act) and also exercises responsibilities under other South Australian planning and environmental legislation.

About the Role
The Senior Environment Protection Officer is responsible for ensuring activities of environmental significance are undertaken in compliance with the Environment Protection Act (1993). The role contributes to the EPA’s regulatory strategy, by providing specialist advice to internal and external stakeholders on environmental assessment, compliance, regulatory practice or other project-based matters.

The Senior Environmental Protection Officer provides assistance, guidance and advice on a wide range of environmental assessment and/or compliance matters with professional direction. The Officer will contribute to the specialist projects which support the EPA’s Strategic Priorities. The incumbent will be tasked within a small industry-focused compliance and regulatory assessment team.

Essential Qualifications
A degree in science, applied science, engineering or equivalent.

Special Conditions
This role has been designated as a Position of Trust pursuant to the standards required in the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework. A current National Police Clearance and driver's licence will be required. The incumbent will occasionally be required to travel to sites in country areas and interstate. The incumbent may be required to work out of hours as the need arises.

Remuneration
PO2 ($85,665 - $94,801 per annum) + 10.5% super.

Contract
Ongoing and Full Time (37.5 hours per week).
