About UsThe Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is South Australia’s independent environment protection regulator. The organisation works to protect, restore and improve the environment through the risk-based regulation of pollution, waste, noise and radiation. The EPA works closely with industry, the community and government to protect the unique natural environment while supporting economic growth and improving wellbeing. The EPA is responsible for the administration of the Environment Protection Act 1993 (EP Act) and the Radiation Protection and Control Act 2021 (RPC Act) and also exercises responsibilities under other South Australian planning and environmental legislation.
About the RoleThe Senior Policy Officer, Climate Change is responsible for the provision and coordination of high-level advice to the Legislation and Policy Branch, EPA Directors, Chief Executive and the Government on policy and legislation relating to environmental management issues with a particular focus on Climate Change mitigation and adaptation. This involves the planning, initiation and coordination of processes for the review and formulation of environmental policy and legislation, including consultation.
The Senior Policy Officer will provide advice on environmental policy issues and may represent the EPA or the Government on committees and other groups at the state or national levels as required.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications such as environmental management, science, or law, or equivalent experience.
