The Role
In an effort to provide greater coverage and support to the community of Port Hedland, we are currently seeking a motivated individual for the newly created position of Senior Environmental Health Officer to join our Environmental Services team on a permanent full-time basis.
As Senior Environmental Health Officer, you will provide specialised Environmental Health advice to internal and external stakeholders, and the opportunity to showcase your exceptional communication, organisational, time management skills coupled with conflict resolution expertise. Your experience and ability to provide advice and make recommendations in respect to contaminated land matters; public health matters; Local Government Act and other relevant regulatory matters will be invaluable as you provide leadership support and guidance to both the Environmental Health Officer, Graduate Environmental Health Officer and EH Technical Officer.
Reporting to the Manager of Environmental Services, the right applicant will have a focus on health promotion, innovation, and a passion for providing exemplary community service and support. In this role you will have the opportunity to undertake the coordination of expansive compliance programs, undertake assessments on applications ranging from small events to multimillion dollar industrial developments, undertaking aerial mosquito control programs with advanced drone technology and implement the Town's first Public Health Plan, all while supported by team of dedicated Environmental Health professionals.
Work Related Requirements
The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:
- National Police Clearance
- Current 'C' class driver's license
- Rights to work in Australia.
- Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent qualification with relevant experience in this field.
- Qualifications suitable to the Department of Health to be authorised as a Regulatory Food Safety Auditor. and for the compliant undertaking of delegated Environmental Health functions.
