South Western Sydney Local Health District is seeking a dynamic highly motivated and experienced Epidemiologist. You will sit within a Population Health Research & Epidemiology Unit to deliver high quality epidemiological support for SWSLHD. About The Opportunity
South Western Sydney Local Health District seeks an experienced Senior Epidemiologist to manage the population health epidemiology portfolio for SWSLHD including surveillance and monitoring and developing epidemiological profiles.
The Senior Epidemiologist will undertake 'deep dive' epidemiological and statistical analyses, extract actionable insights and ensure timely epidemiological and statistical information is available for priority projects, clinicians and practitioners.

What you'll be doing
The Senior Epidemiologist will manage the population health epidemiology portfolio for SWSLHD including surveillance and monitoring, and developing epidemiological profiles.
The Senior Epidemiologist will undertake ‘deep dive’ epidemiological and statistical analyses, extract actionable insights and ensure timely epidemiological and statistical information is available for priority projects, clinicians and practitioners. The role will support the Division identify and report on key population health indicators.
The Senior Epidemiologist will also contribute to population health research and evaluation of local programs and interventions of importance for the LHD and support the research objectives in SWSLHD. The Senior Epidemiologist will work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure research goals are met.

How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible. * Post graduate qualification combined with substantial practical skills and experience in either epidemiology, biostatistics, population/public health, or demonstrated equivalent professional experience Excellent knowledge of health data sets and demonstrated experience in the analysis and application of epidemiological and statistical methods to health data.

  • Demonstrated high level oral and written communication, interpersonal and analytical skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Extensive experience in epidemiology, biostatistical methods, surveillance methods, and competent in the use of SAS, STATA or similar statistical packages
  • Demonstrated high-level competence in the use of databases and other software programs such as REDCAP, EPIINFO, PowerPoint, Excel and Access or similar for the collection, analysis, presentation of data and undertaking data quality activities
  • Ability to work co-operatively with colleagues in a multidisciplinary team, internal partners within the health service and external agencies
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills and experience in working effectively with stakeholders with competing priorities to achieve mutual outcomes
  • Good time management and organisational skills and capacity to deliver high quality products within agreed timeframes with minimal supervision
  • Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment.
