The Senior Financial Analyst is part of the Health and Disabilities team, which has responsibility for Queensland Health and the Department of Child Safety, Disability Services and Seniors with this role predominately focusing on Queensland Health. As a financial specialist, you will support the team in providing expert advice on complex financial and policy issues arising in these agencies. You will work collaboratively with a range of clients including other work units within Treasury, other State Government departments, and statutory authorities.
In this role, you will:
Provide strategic financial and policy advice, information, and support to clients, the Executive Director, and senior executives on a broad range of complex policy and financial management issues; capital program oversight; approval of agency actuals; and various reporting.
Conduct and prepare financial, economic and policy research, analysis, and evaluation and make recommendations to the Executive Director and senior executives.
Provide strategic advice on risk identification and assessment of various financial issues and develop appropriate strategies.
Coordinate and guide budget and accounting requirements to support relevant agencies to manage their financial obligations.
Liaise, negotiate, develop, and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders.
Prepare and develop reports, submissions, briefing notes, presentations, documents, and correspondence on a range of complex financial and policy issues.
What experience you will bring:
- monitoring, interpreting, and analysing financial information, including providing advice on financial restructuring for an organisation in light of services and outcomes delivery
- communicating technical financial concepts and conveying meaning to a variety of stakeholders
- high quality written and spoken communication
- high level of interpersonal skills
- working autonomously and collaboratively.
Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, however, relevant qualifications in financial and accounting related disciplines are highly regarded.
