The role

The Senior Fraud Investigator will be based in our Claims & Assessing – Technical Claims Division, reporting to the Team Leader of Claims Investigations. The role is primarily site based in our Kawana office and may require occasional travel between sites. Your main duties and responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to;
 

  • Develop and undertake advanced interview and behavioural fraud investigation training for both the Fraud & Investigations Team and appropriate staff across Claims & Assessing.
  • Conducts in-depth investigations of evidence and/or allegations of suspicious activity such as fraud or syndicates activities.
  • Conducts virtual face-to-face interviews with customer, witness, or other parties.
  • Investigates, complex suspicious claims or suspicious fraudulent insurance related activities covering all areas of the Claims & Assessing business.
  • Acquires documentation or permission required to authorise investigatory activities; adheres to the scope and parameters set forth therein.
  • Interviews and records statements of witnesses and suspects.
  • Documents all investigative activities and prepares written reports of findings.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with law enforcement officers and attorneys concerning investigative efforts.
  • Maintains records, databases, logs, and other needed documentation related to fraudulent activity.
  • May coordinate fraud detection and prevention activities and training, providing advice on methods and best practices.
  • Managing all aspects of the claims investigation relating to suspicious claims including providing reports and guidance to other instructed experts such as building assessors and loss adjusters. 
  • Develop and deliver appropriate Fraud training programmes for all Claims & Assessing staff.
  • Undertake open file reviews with the Fraud & Investigations Team, coaching and developing staff to optimise Fraud Investigation methodologies.
  • Provide referral/ high level technical support on potentially Fraudulent claims across both Claims & Assessing and IDR prior to and post submission to FOS.
  • Completing targeted Closed File Review Programmes, with a focus on Fraud to ensuring that suggestions for improvement are closely aligned to process improvement and training/ development plans.
  • Develop a clear understanding of Industry trends and opportunities both in terms of fraudulent/ criminal activity and technological advances to ensure that Auto & General remain aware of and engaged in early business opportunities.
  • Maintain sound knowledge of Regulatory requirements, company processes, systems, products, and brands.
  • Assist Head of Fraud and Claims Investigation, Claims Specialist or Manager, Risk Assessment Hub with additional projects or tasks.
 

What experience you’ll bring

  • Certificate III Investigative Services highly regarded.
  • Minimum 2 Years investigations experience within an insurance sector.
  • High performing individual with strong integrity and target driven.
  • A thorough knowledge of evidence collection and expertise in pursuing lines of enquiry within the Insurance Industry.
  • Understanding of the Insurance Contracts Act, Criminal Law, disclosure, non-disclosure, and materiality.
  • Strong Verbal and written communication skills Extensive Insurance Fraud Investigative Experience.
  • Extensive Knowledge of Internal systems, Databases, and Investigative Tools.
