Job Description
We’re entering an exciting time of business investment, and you’ll have the opportunity to work with the team responsible for greenfield & existing customer facing features for some of the most highly visited media websites in Australia such as Sydney Morning Herald, The Age as well as Lifestyle brands Good Food and Traveller. We use a brand new, entirely cloud-first modern tech stack, with a fully automated, Slack-integrated CI/CD DevOps environment. We craft world-class high performance, high availability, web applications in small autonomous Agile squads.
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer with a strong background in web development and expertise in React 18, GraphQL and NodeJS. As a Senior Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect, design, and implement web applications that are not only visually stunning but also performant, responsive, and user-friendly. You also enjoy mentoring and coaching other team members. You are also the one who takes pride in improving squad level practices and standards.
Ideally you are a Frontend-focused Full Stack Engineer , with a broad understanding across a range of technology.
Responsibilities:
- Scoping and breaking down project into engineering deliverables
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect, design and implement visually stunning websites
- Utilise your in-depth knowledge of React to build scalable and high-performance website
- Collaborate with designers to turn design mockups into fully functional, responsive websites
- Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code while following best practices and coding standards
- Write unit and integration tests
- Improve squad level practices and standards by staying current on emerging trends
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers, sharing your expertise and knowledge of software development
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- Proven experience as a Full Stack engineer with a strong focus on web development
- Exposure to CI/CD, Kubernetes, Kibana, Elastic, Golang
- Extensive experience using React, GraphQL and NodeJS
- Golang experience is a must
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript and modern front-end technologies
- Familiarity with UI/UX principles and design tools such as Figma
- Experience with responsive design and cross browser compatibility
- Knowledge of front-end testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, PlayWright etc.
- Strong understanding of SEO and Web Accessibility standards
- Experience building and deploying solutions on AWS or other cloud platforms
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to work independently as as part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong experience with version control system like Git and agile development methodologies
Nice to have:
- Experience using Next.JS
