The role
As the Senior Government Relations Advisor, you will work as part of a small, dynamic team to lead strategic engagement and interactions with shareholding departments, ministerial advisors and other key government agencies. You will also proactively promote and position Sunwater to build confidence in its ability to deliver critical services and major projects across Queensland.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing strategic advice to internal project partners to ensure government is engaged appropriately.
- Reviewing Sunwater’s government engagement framework and work with internal stakeholders to update and implement.
- Understanding and interpreting current and emerging government policy and provide advice to the business on potential opportunities and impacts.
- Developing and delivering proactive and reactive correspondence (formal and informal), parliamentary materials and responses to ‘requests for information’ from shareholding departments and Ministers and other government agencies.
- Working with the General Manager Corporate Affairs and Executive Leadership team to prepare for and manage involvement in key government processes including Estimates Hearings.
Please note that due to the nature of this role, there will be required travel to Sunwater regional offices and locations. Please also note that you will be required to participate in an on-call media roster (approximately one in every nine weeks).
About you
Sunwater is looking for someone with experience in government advisory roles, with a demonstrated understanding of Queensland Government and parliamentary processes. Furthermore, you will hold tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline with the ability to collaborate with external stakeholders and internal business partners to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes.
In addition, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Exceptional project management skills.
- demonstrated experience and capability in strategy development and planning.
- Demonstrated experience balancing priorities to meet multiple deadlines.
- Strong issues mitigation and management skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills and confidence to independently develop relationships with external and internal business partners.
