Job description

Located on the Adelaide sand belt and established in 1923, the Kooyonga Golf Club is recognised internationally as one of Australia’s leading championship courses and private golf clubs having hosted five Men’s Australian Opens, one Women’s Australian Open and many other State and National golf events.  

Committed to excellence throughout its highly rated golf course, state of the art practice facilities and expansive clubhouse and surrounds, we have an exciting opportunity available for a self-motivated and career minded turf professional to work within the Course Maintenance team in the role of Senior Greenkeeper

The successful applicant will be an integral part of the Course Maintenance team, being hands on in all areas of fine turf maintenance along with working closely with the Assistant Course Superintendent and Course Foreman in the implementation of maintenance programs to deliver what is acknowledged as one of the best presented courses in the country. 

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Contributing individually or as part of a team in golf course maintenance and development activities
  • Assistance with the supervision and management of smaller staff groups 
  • Mixing and applying fertilisers and chemicals
  • Maintenance, operation and scheduling of the golf course irrigation system
  • Golf course construction activities, including irrigation and drainage installation and turf establishment 

Skills & knowledge required:

  • Certificate III in Horticulture – Sports Turf Management (or similar)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in all aspects of fine turf maintenance
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Willingness to maintain compliance with work health safety and environmental regulations

The ability to be self-motivated, proactive and a supportive contributor in a team environment is critical to being successful in the role. The ideal candidate will bring excellent interpersonal, prioritisation and time management skills, be well presented, physically fit to undertake all duties and hold a current C class license.

This is a full time, 38 hour per week position, with early morning starts and regular rostered weekend work. Some advance notice, paid weekday overtime will also be required.
