Elecnor has been contracted to build EnergyConnect, a new 700km transmission line extending from Wagga Wagga NSW to the South Australian border.
This backbone infrastructure will connect customers with more Renewable Energy enabling a further 4950MW of generation capacity, save NSW customers $180 million a year and create 1,500 new construction jobs in regional NSW.
Construction of EnergyConnect is underway in various locations across the project area.
This is a newly created role, which would ideally be based at site in Buronga (near Mildura). This would be a 14:7 roster, and would suit someone interested in FIFO/DIDO, or indeed a local from the Riverina area. As works progress, this role will work at other locations along the project line.
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
Reporting to and working collaboratively with the Manager, Health and Safety, the Senior Health, Hygiene and Injury Coordinator, will play a vital role in supporting continual improvement in the sustainability performance of Elecnor.
With your extensive professional knowledge and highly developed interpersonal skills you will be able to contribute to a purpose-led, high-performing culture within the safety and health function that is aligned with the company values, is inclusive and promotes diversity. You will provide technical support and risk-based guidance to the Elecnor Business units and projects with regards to the management of occupational health hazards and the systems and data used to manage these hazards.
The role will respond to, assess and case manage workplace injury and driving early intervention, recovery, rehabilitation and return to work objectives in accordance with Elecnor’s Injury Management Policy and legislative/regulatory requirements. A key element of the role will be engaging with, collaborating with, influencing, upskilling and managing key stakeholders in delivering on early injury intervention, rehabilitation management and return to work objectives.
The role will assist in the development and maintenance of health, safety and well-being related processes and initiatives as well as the analysis of data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
You will:
- Collaborate with the broader H&S team to deliver on agreed Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) objectives.
- Provide effective HSW support to the Elecnor Business Units.
- Develop, implement and review of Elecnor’s Health and Wellbeing Plan, including coordination and promotion of annual activities.
- Implement occupational hygiene processes, focused on the identification, measurement and progressive elimination of health risks in the workplace
- Proactively reviewing and managing pre-employment, and fitness for work assessments.
- Set up and manage medical contractors for projects and liaise with local emergency service providers
- Proactively responding to, assessing and case managing workplace injury and driving early intervention, recovery, rehabilitation and return to work objectives in accordance with Injury Management Policy and legislative/regulatory requirements.
- Lead the coordination of early intervention strategies, return to work and workers compensation claims management processes.
- Engaging with, collaborating with, influencing, upskilling and managing key stakeholders in delivering on early injury intervention, rehabilitation management and return to work objectives.
- Interact in-person, virtually, and verbally with workers, employers, treating practitioners, and providers to jointly devise and execute a personalized and comprehensive RTW solution.
- Working closely with stakeholders to deliver best practice, cost effective injury and claims management, as well as being the conduit and key point of contact with Elecnors insurer for workers’ compensation claims matters.
- Leadership opportunities, with contribution to organisational systems and reporting/analytics.
- Implement Company Standards and Procedures.
- Develop Health management systems, processes and initiatives.
- Timely analysis of data and the identification of HSW insights, making appropriate recommendations.
Qualifications and Experience required for this role include:
- Tertiary qualifications in a health, safety or related discipline (required)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role (mandatory).
- Membership with AIOH will be highly regarded
- Extensive experience in an injury management and/or return to work role.
- Ability to write RTW and RI plans in consultation with all stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience working in the field of occupational hygiene in the construction industry, or related industry
- Demonstrated knowledge of health risk management principles and implementing continuous improvement
- Return to Work Coordinator Certification
- Current knowledge of WorkCover claims management systems and best practice concepts and demonstrated Return to Work management experience
- Ability to effectively lead the coordination of early intervention strategies, return to work and workers compensation claims management processes
- Demonstrated ability to lead, persuade, negotiate, consult with, and provide advice on injury management, rehabilitation and workers compensation claims management
- Demonstrated knowledge of, including ability to interpret and implement relevant legislation.
