Job Description:
The School is currently looking for a dedicated and skilled Senior Hockey Coach to lead our hockey program from April to October 2024. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in both coaching and managing various junior hockey teams within the School. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for field hockey and a commitment to fostering young athletes' growth and enthusiasm for the sport. This position is being offered on a casual basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hook into Hockey Coach: Lead engaging training sessions aimed at introducing young athletes to the fundamentals of hockey. Thursday afternoons from 3:20 PM to 4:00 PM.
- Prep Hockey JPSSA Coach: Conduct training for Prep hockey teams on Tuesday mornings from 7:40 AM to 8:40 AM and Thursday afternoons matches from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM, focusing on skill development and preparation for competition.
- Junior Hockey Boys Coordinator (Non-Coaching - Organisation): Serve as the main coordinator for the junior hockey boys' teams, handling scheduling, logistics, and program management. Availability required on Monday and Wednesday from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM, with match day responsibilities on Fridays from 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
- 9/10s Girls Coach: Coach the 9/10s girls' teams on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM, with Sunday matches. Emphasis on skill improvement, strategic understanding, and teamwork.
- 11/12s Girls Coach: Coach the 11/12s girls' teams, with training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM and matches on Friday evenings. Focus on advanced techniques, physical conditioning, and competition.
Essential Requirements:
- Demonstrated coaching experience in field hockey with an understanding of youth sports development.
- Strong organisational and communication skills for effective team and schedule management.
- A positive, inclusive coaching approach that motivates and supports all players.
- Required coaching certification or commitment to obtain before the program start date.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, afternoons, and weekends as per the training and match schedule.
- Hold current Working with Children Check.
- Have the right to work in Australia.
- Police clearance dated within the last 6 months.
