The Role
We’re looking for someone with big dreams and big ideas to become an integral part of Vuly’s dynamic and ever-growing R&D department. Working alongside a team of Industrial Designers and reporting to the Head of Research & Development, the ideal candidate will be passionate about enriching people’s lives through product design and motivated by a hands-on, practical approach to executing Vuly’s product vision. You’ll play a pivotal role in helping shape that vision and bringing it to the world.
Responsibilities
- Design of Vuly play products from concept through to mass production.
- Market research and consumer trend analysis
- Collaborating on product strategy and vision.
- Assisting and mentoring junior designers.
- Working with offshore suppliers to bring products to mass production.
- Prototyping of design concepts using a variety of methods, including mock-ups, 3D printing and working with the in-house fabrication team.
- Ensure that all products meet Vuly’s high standards of safety and quality
- Work within established brand guidelines and design language, while bringing a unique point-of-view and “design voice” to your work.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Design or a recognised equivalent.
Requirements
- This role requires an innovative thinker who can push boundaries and help take Vuly to new and exciting places.
- Minimum 4-6 years experience in a similar role designing quality consumer products, either in-house or agency-based.
- Experience designing injection-moulded parts for mass production is essential. Experience designing for steel fabrication is also highly desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively or autonomously, as required.
- A fundamentally modernist approach to design, demonstrating intuitive understanding of balance, line, proportion, colour and finish.
- Advanced level Solidworks CAD skills, including demonstrated ability to produce detailed engineering drawings.
- Ability and willingness to travel overseas is a requirement of this role.
