Team Overview
Comcare's Technology and Information Management (TAIM) team maintain the Information Communication and Technology infrastructure for the department, and provide strategic leadership, governance, solutions, and advice for the effective management of information.
The Information Management Unit (within TAIM) provides records administration, end user support and training for the electronic document records management systems (EDRMS). In addition to this, they also provide information architecture and records management advice and guidance, mail and courier services, and manage our physical/paper records in offsite storage.
The key duties of the position include
The APS6 Senior Information Officer manages a small team, providing leadership and guidance to the information management functions, they ensure delivery of responsive, and reliable and accurate advice and services to Comcare. The duties of the role include leading and managing a range of administrative activities (including forecasting and reporting) and providing legislative advice to support Comcare business activities relating to information management.
The primary focus of this role is to assist in providing best practice insight and aiding in deliberation on governance, relating to how records are managed within the department.
The role will be responsible for information architecture activities and records management education/training to Comcare.
Primary Responsibilities
  1. Provide sound, detailed advice on legislative, regulatory and technical requirements for managing agency information.
  2. Support and train Comcare staff on records management systems and best practices.
  3. Manage scheduling, prioritisation and allocation of work to meet business requirements and objectives.
  4. As the team leader, supervise and provide support for daily operations., as well as organise work plans, deadlines and assignments to meet business needs and goals.
  5. Manage Management systems, applications, and functions, including data mapping to migrate records between Electronic Document and Records Management Systems (EDRMS) datasets.
  6. Utilise own skills and experience to conduct and implement the technical aspects of information management including the conduct of complex searches (Freedom Of Information, Legal Discovery), modify classifications, update records authorities.
  7. Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders giving appropriate advice and managing the resolution of issues and/or complaints.
  8. Provide considerable input to the development, implementation and maintenance of Comcare's Information Management framework, architecture, processes, policies and procedures.
  9. Other duties as required relating to Information Management.

Qualifications/Experience
Mandatory
  • 3+ years records/information management experience. Experience in the Commonwealth Government setting will be an advantage.
  • Extensive legislative subject matter expertise and knowledge (with specific relation to record/information management).

Desirable
  • Certification on an EDRMS or equivalent years of experience administering an EDRMS.
  • Be a member of the Records and Information Management Professionals Association.
  • Have experience in managing records in a cloud-based environment.
