The Climate Change Authority is an independent statutory body established to provide expert and evidence-based advice to the Australian Government on climate change, by conducting regular and specifically commissioned reviews and undertaking targeted climate change research.
CCA currently has around 55 staff. Due to the increased investment in the Authority under the Labor government, they have the target of increasing to 65 staff in the near future.
The Opportunity
There is an opportunity at the APS6 level to join the Corporate Services Team. This team provides strategic and operational services and advice across the agency’s finance, procurement, and human resource functions and maintains the Authority’s corporate governance framework and compliance.

The Role
Your duties will include the following:
- Monitor and review of agency policies, procedures, frameworks and control systems
- Support the preparation of annual reports, corporate plan, fraud, risk management and business continuity plans in accordance with PGPA Act and supporting legislation, policies and frameworks
- Work collaboratively with CCA’s broader corporate services team, legal and parliamentary coordination and secretariat to deliver governance and compliance activities achieving a holistic approach to enabling services for the Agency including Freedom of Information, Public Interest Disclosure and Fraud
- Develop and manage the Authority’s Information Management system and metadata
- Management of the Authority’s risk management frameworks, policies and registers and timely reporting to senior executive team
- Actively identification of strategic and operational risks for the Authority
- Provide guide to team leaders on potential areas of risk and management of these risks
- Undertake certificate of compliance reporting for the Authority including surveying staff
The ideal candidate will have experience in Information Management, risk and/or compliance within a government environment.
You will also have:
- Demonstrated experience in Information Management and information governance
- Ability to identify and manage strategic, operational and project risks
- Highly developed verbal, written and computer communication skills to logically convey thoughts and new ideas
- Demonstrate capability to influence key stakeholders in order to achieve effective strategic outcomes
- Strong skill sets in analysing, synthesising and presenting business data
- Well-developed interpersonal skills that foster trust and cooperation, and a proven ability to work effectively and with integrity within a politically sensitive environment
- Ability to work in a fluid environment, remaining flexible, agile and adaptable supporting colleagues at short notice
Salary / Rate
- $80k - $95k + 15.4% super (or salary match for permanent transfers)
- If you are currently a permanent APS employee, you can be engaged on a permanent s26 transfer. Non-APS employees will be engaged on an initial 12-month non-ongoing contract with the view to permanency
- Office is located in Canberra CBD
- Ability to work from home two to three days per week
