About your new role

This role is responsible for the development, review, and implementation of water, recycled water, and sewerage infrastructure planning to ensure the City of Gold Coast’s future network service infrastructure is sustainable, prudent, and efficient. Your core responsibilities are to encompass strategic planning and operational modelling to optimize performance of the existing and future infrastructure assets. In addition, you play a pivotal role in city planning, overseeing sustainable development considering technological, societal, and environmental changes. Your work extends to envisioning infrastructure plans that align with evolving factors such as climate change, legislative trends, and regional objectives.

We're looking for people who have:

  • Proven experience in investigation, planning, modelling and documentation of water, recycled water and wastewater networks and systems with an understanding of the principles of ecologically sustainable development and integrated water management.
  • Sound understanding and interpretation of planning instruments and demonstrated knowledge of statutory requirements and policies. 
  • Advanced proficiency in ArcGIS mapping software or equivalent, with a preference for familiarity with water and sewerage modelling platforms such as InfoWorks ICM, WS Pro, or EPANET. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project) is also desired.
  • An innovative and constructive problem-solving approach, coupled with the ability to pioneer new approaches and systems.
  • A dedication to exemplifying positive leadership behaviours, in line with the City of Gold Coast High Performance Principles.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills, enabling the establishment of relationships and credibility with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to build relationships and credibility with internal and external stakeholders using interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Comprehensive organisational, project and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and commitments.
  • Well-developed communication and writing skills, with the ability to consult, advise and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders.
