About the role
This Infrastructure Coordination Senior Planner position works within the City Planning Program. Broadly speaking, this program plays an integral part in promoting and monitoring orderly development through urban research and growth modelling, strategic land use planning and strategic infrastructure planning. More specifically, the position is in the Infrastructure Coordination and Strategy team which is responsible for preparing and implementing Council’s Charges Resolution, coordinating the preparation of Infrastructure Agreements, and leading the preparation of Council’s Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP).
As the Infrastructure Coordination Senior Planner, you will have a diverse sweep of responsibilities, where communication, negotiation and conflict resolution are essential. Using your skills and experience to clearly explain matters that are technical and complex by nature, in terms that are easy to understand and relatable.
It is crucial to have a good understanding of the relevant legislation, with the ability to interpret and apply these in Council's policies and procedures, specifically Council's LGIP and Infrastructure Charges Resolution.
This senior role requires you to work with the team by reviewing infrastructure charges calculations, mentoring both planners and student planners, and providing guidance and feedback to ensure staff knowledge and productivity is at the required standard, while supporting growth both personally and professionally.
Requirements of the role include:
- A tertiary qualification in Town Planning and a sound understanding of planning legislation are essential.
- Eligibility for corporate membership of the Planning Institute of Australia
- Demonstrated understanding of the legal requirements to calculate and review infrastructure charges resolution and LGIP.
- Advanced skills in software such as Excel and experience in project management are highly advantageous.
- Previous experience in a similar position would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience engaging with a broad range of stakeholders to build and maintain effective relationships and collaboration with partners, both internal and external
- Demonstration of strong communication skills to deliver quality customer service as a technical expert who can translate complex information into simple concepts to facilitate customer understanding and manage expectations.
- Ability to successfully pass all background related checks including possession of a valid C Class drivers’ licence.
