Our client, a leading engineering consultancy, is looking for a Senior Instrumentation Designer to join their team. They currently own one of the strongest project portfolios in WA, across the Mining, Oil & Gas, and Energy sectors. Responsibilities
- Deliver design and drafting assignments in line with the project requirements promptly, and report to the overall Discipline Lead/Project Manager
- Oversee the design and drafting deliverables with the Workshare team and the designers in the head office project team; manage the coordination regularly as required to ensure effective design delivery
- Support the scoping requirements and the design budget estimates for proposals in response to quotation requests for clients with the Bid Managers and Lead Engineers
- Effectively communicate with the project team, project lead, and workshare team, related to all electrical discipline matters and consider the interdisciplinary design interfaces
- Form and sustain good working relationships with the relevant stakeholders
- Resolve any inconsistencies between the project scope, the company, and the client’s requirements and contribute to the development of company design processes and procedures
- Provide technical assistance and advice to the discipline and project teams and participate in project reviews as needed
- Be familiar with all design documentation and their use and be able to check and originate documents such as schematics, instrument layouts, block diagrams, hook-up diagrams, termination diagrams, loops, fire and gas layouts, cause and effects, P&IDs, specifications, philosophies, and datasheets
- Have extensive knowledge of PLCs, distributed control systems, emergency shutdown systems, and fire and gas systems to ensure practical and effective end-to-end design solutions
- Recognize issues, develop suitable solutions, and seek assistance if needed
Qualifications
- Unrestricted work rights in Australia
- Hydrocarbons industry experience (highly desirable)
- A relevant qualification (Diploma) in the Instrumentation field or equivalent
- Extensive practical and technical experience in the relevant discipline in the oil and gas or similar industry, including experience in multi-disciplinary teams and projects
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation systems is required
- Experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation database or 3D modelling is highly desirable but not required
- Excellent communication skills and ability to successfully work in a team and effectively communicate with other disciplines, clients, suppliers and/or other offices
