Your opportunity
A new created exciting role of Senior Internal Auditor reporting to the General Manager, Finance based in Sydney.
This position will support the General Manager, Finance, and the Chief Audit Executive by providing senior management and the Audit Risk Committee with thorough assessments of Port Authority’s compliance regarding internal control and governance.
You will be responsible for leading the delivery of a three-year internal audit plan, identifying gaps, and assisting management in developing and implementing appropriate actions to address these gaps. Additionally, you will follow up with stakeholders to ensure that appropriate actions are undertaken and oversee the procurement process for specialist outsourced audits.
Here’s how your impact will truly count:
- You’ll Lead the development and implementation of the 3-year strategic internal audit plan.
- You’ll conduct end to end internal audits in line with the approved strategic plan.
- You’ll undertake engagements to provide proactive advice to management fostering continuous improvement and best practice processes, systems and controls.
- You’ll prepare comprehensive high quality audit reports with an opinion on the risk management, internal controls, offering practical suggestions for improvement. Present key findings to the Audit & Risk Committee and other senior stakeholders.
- You’ll monitor the implementation of audit actions and maintain an up-to-date audit action register.
- You’ll manage the delivery of all outsourced audits, ensuring timely fulfilment of contractual obligations.
- You’ll promote the role of internal audit within the business, working collaboratively with various stakeholders.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline (e.g. Finance, Accounting, Commerce or Economics) with a demonstrated ability to maintaining awareness of contemporary industry best practice.
- Qualified Internal Auditor through the Institute of Internal Auditors
- Minimum 5 years in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of internal audit principles and frameworks
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
