Join an innovative Federal Government Department as a dynamic APS 6 Senior Internal Communications Specialist within the centralised communications branch. We are actively seeking a candidate with proven communications experience at the APS 6 level, coupled with the ability and enthusiasm to act up to EL1 level when needed. Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders to deliver top-notch Internal Communications services for the department.
This is an initial 12-month non-ongoing contract, with the potential for an S26 transfer for current APS employees. Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain a baseline clearance are prerequisites. The role is based in Central Canberra with the flexibility to work 2 days from home.
Key Responsibilities in this pivotal role include:
- Develop and execute high-quality internal communication services and products for departmental line areas and general staff.
- Manage internal communication channels, overseeing content creation, coordination, scheduling, and publishing across multiple platforms.
- Collaborate closely with Creative Services Design and Video teams, providing input into the production of visual assets.
- Engage with stakeholders to create compelling internal communication campaigns, including drafting and implementing communication plans.

Key Requirements:
- Proven government communications experience at APS 6 level.
- Demonstrated experience in writing and creating content for various communication materials.
- Previous experience managing a newsletter is highly regarded.
- Strong stakeholder liaison skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to contribute across a variety of tasks and support the team during surge periods.
- Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain a Baseline security clearance.
