About the Business Unit:

Employee and Workplace Relations is responsible for management of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS)'s industrial relations program, the management of employee relations issues including employee conduct, the Human Resource Business Partnerships, and administration of the internal review of actions process.

About the Role:

Under the direction of the Senior Manager and a Principal Investigator, Employee Investigations (EI), this position is responsible for conducting complex end-to-end misconduct and reportable conduct investigations, and providing expert, strategic advice in relation to misconduct and reportable conduct investigations and related matters.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Conducting complex and sensitive end-to end employee misconduct and reportable conduct investigations within tight timeframes across DJCS. This includes conducting assessments, drafting allegations, conducting interviews with affected people, witnesses and respondents, evidence gathering, making findings and report writing
  • Preparing departmental briefs for disciplinary outcomes involving termination of employment, reporting to the Commission for Children and Young People, and other ad hoc briefings as required
  • Providing authoritative advice and information in both verbal and written form to internal and external stakeholders including senior management, employees and legal and union representatives, demonstrating a high level of technical knowledge, expertise, and analysis in the subject area.

About You:

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Experience in undertaking complex and sensitive investigations consistent with relevant legislative and industrial requirements. Specific experience in misconduct and/or reportable conduct investigations is particularly desirable.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Applicants must have a background in investigations to be suitable for this role. Studies in law or experience in Government Investigations or Industrial Relations would also be an advantage
  • An Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) will be required for this role at the expense of the applicant once successfully in the role. Currency is required to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
