Form of workIntoWork Australia are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior IR/ER Specialist to provide specialist employee and industrial relations advice to our Human Resources (HR) and leadership teams. This is a permanent, full time position.

About the role
Reporting to the HR Manager, the Senior IR/ER Specialist will be responsible for developing strategies to handle complex disciplinary matters, including conducting investigations and representing the organisation in any claims against them with external bodies (i.e Fair Work).
You will identify potential IR/ER challenges and opportunities, providing expert guidance to HR Advisors, Senior Leaders, and Managers on sensitive issues, ensuring compliance with legislation and policies. Leading IR/ER projects and serving as a subject matter expert on HR initiatives, including supporting in any Enterprise Agreement negotiations.
Coaching and mentoring our HR team will be a crucial part of your role, as will contributing to our HR culture and continually enhancing HR policies and initiatives through industry best practices and benchmarking.
This is a fast-paced, dynamic environment requiring someone who can handle high volume activity with competing deadlines and meeting various stakeholders’ needs. You will be adaptable and detail orientated with an ability to think outside of the square to solve problems.
About you
- Tertiary qualification/s in Industrial Relations, Law, Human Resources or a related field and extensive demonstrated work experience.
- Professional membership of a relevant association (desirable).
- An understanding of current industrial relations issues and the regulatory frameworks including the ability to provide high quality, consistent advice on these matters.
- Extensive experience in the managing of investigations, performance issues, cases, complaints, disputes and grievances in a large, complex organisational setting.
- High-level verbal communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to maintain highly effective working relationships, including demonstrated ability to negotiate, consult and liaise with staff from all levels of an organisation and external parties.
- High-level written communication skills including the ability to communicate ideas clearly and succinctly and with regard to complex and sensitive matters that will have significant organisational impact.
- Proven experience in successfully negotiating enterprise agreements, and facilitating workshops related to improving IR/ER processes and practices within an organisation.
