- Provide sound, technical and professional advice to the Platforms Solutions & Product Manager, actively contribute to planning, system documentation and reporting and assumes technical responsibility for all stages of the software development process.
- Provide design, analysis and programming expertise into the development and/or enhancement of complex computer-based programs, systems, databases and prototypes.
- Design, implement and maintain complex java applications and associated databases.
- Provide technical support and consultation for java applications and contemporary (Modern Delivery) infrastructure.
- Apply technical expertise in the requirements analysis and corrections phases to ensure the solution is both fit for purpose and fit for use.
- Design and execute acceptance testing to improve the quality of the developed program / system and reduce organisational risks; provide support for user testing of completed developmental work.
- Provide ongoing third level technical support for programs and systems; analyse and resolve problems, and where necessary, follow-through with external service providers; monitor recurring problems to identify trends and resolve performance issues.
- Contribute to ICT planning to ensure that programs, systems and change requests are considered in the context of emerging ICT requirements.
- Maintain timely and accurate system documentation, including change requests, technical and user guides, software asset and configuration registers, problem and resolution knowledge bases, and other documentation produced during the program and/or system lifecycle.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree qualification in related field or equivalent significant experience.
- Extensive experience in Java, Wildfly and bespoke Java applications.
- Strong competency with relational databases, Oracle enterprise solutions preferred (database management, PLSQL, triggers and embedded functions).
- Extensive experience delivering solutions end-to-end (design through to deployment and support), familiarity and exposure with HR and Payroll Systems.
- Understanding of modern build chain (CI/CD & IaC) configuration and deployments.
- Containerisation configuration and development inclusive of securely managing application secrets.
- Exposure to monitoring tools (eg: new relic, sumologic, splunk) and the ability to translate value to the platform team.
- Experience with the following technologies.
- Application Servers: JBOSS/Wildfly, Programming Languages: Java v11.0, Version control tools: GIT, Bitbucket, Monitoring tools: Splunk, New Relic, Deployment tools: Bamboo
- Devops tools: Jfrog Artifactory, Web Services: SOAPUI, Databases/database solutions: Oracle, TOAD, Environment: AWS, Docker.
- You will have strong interpersonal skills, analytical and problem-solving ability.
