- Provide, and support other senior MRPV lawyers in providing, high quality and pragmatic legal advice on a broad range of legal areas, including matters relating to project development, procurement, delivery, construction contracting, legislation, interfaces, land planning and environment, compliance and regulatory issues.
- Provide advice and guidance to staff with respect to applicable policies and procedures including Ministerial Directions, VIDA policies, conflicts management and probity requirements.
- Support other Senior Lawyers in the management complex or sensitive legal matters and issues and the provision of authoritative legal advice.
- Effectively liaise with external legal and probity advisors to provide instructions and interpret and apply advice and collaborate with other teams and external advisors as required, to ensure issues are considered efficiently and a consistent and agreed approach is taken to support MRPV and project expectations.
- Work collaboratively within MRPV and across VIDA and broader Government to strengthen strategic approaches to legal matters arising on major infrastructure projects.
Reporting to the Managing Principal Lawyer, you will be inspired and supported to provide high quality and pragmatic legal advice across a broad range of legal areas, including matters relating to procurement, contracting, legislation, probity, property and matters of public law such as freedom of information.
You will work closely with other teams to support project development and delivery of MRPV projects, as well as the organisation’s internal legal needs and management of stakeholder interfaces.
On a day-to-day basis, this role could see you contributing to vital contractual and transaction-related documentation, briefing and providing best-for-project advice to a diverse range of stakeholders, negotiating with potential suppliers and much more!
About You
- Enthusiastic, diligent and eager to contribute to a city-shaping program of works.
- Admitted, or eligible to be admitted, as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of Victoria, with demonstrated experience working on complex legal matters.
- Experienced in legal matters relating to projects and construction, procurement, contracting, land planning and environment issues, contract delivery and claims, or matters of public law. Experience in major projects and construction is preferred, but not essential to ensuring success within the role.

Qualifications
A relevant tertiary qualification in law and admitted, or eligible to be admitted, as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of Victoria is mandatory.
