About the role:
Seeking a Senior Lawyer to join the Therapeutic Courts Team to service the new pilot County Court Drug and Alcohol Treatment Court (CCDATC). You will appear as an advocate for clients in Drug and Alcohol Treatment Order matters and other courts and tribunals. You will deliver high quality legal services by providing legal information and advice, conducting casework, and working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team in the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Court.
As Senior Lawyer, you will work closely with two other Senior Lawyers within the team. You will also be responsible for assisting in the ongoing evaluation of the policies and procedures implemented by the CCDATC as well as mentoring and training other staff in relation to Drug and Alcohol Treatment Court
This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country
About you:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Demonstrated legal practice experience and thorough knowledge in criminal law, particularly in indictable matters.
- An ability to manage and mentor staff in their knowledge and skills in criminal law within a therapeutic court setting.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to form productive professional relationships, work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- The ability to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
- A current Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).
