ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Doctor of Medicine (MD) is a 4-year graduate-entry program which combines basic and clinical sciences, communication and clinical skills, population and public health, and personal and professional development. The curriculum is delivered principally through Problem Based Learning in small groups led by a clinician for the Foundation Years (Years 1 and 2) and then through clinical placements at seven Clinical Schools in Sydney, Melbourne and rural NSW and Victoria in the Clinical Years (Years 3 and 4).
This position plays a critical role within the Clinical School and directly supports the Head ofClinical School to deliver teaching responsibilities and pastoral care within the Clinical School. This position is based at the Clinical School and reports to the Head ofClinical School, and through them to the Head of Clinical Years and then to the Deputy National Head ofSchool of Medicine, Sydney Campus
Responsibilities
- Promoting the School to key stakeholders involving undertaking meetings with individual doctors, organisations and agencies to inform them of the School and its mission
- Performing administrative duties as requested by Head ofClinical School; including providing leave cover for essential duties
- Conducting a weekly teaching ward round or equivalent with the students, such as Back to Base teaching and tutorials
- Conducting regular formative assessments, including provision of feedback on student performance
- Contributing to the regular development, review and marking of written assessment items and Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) stations; and participating in OSCE examinations
- Participating in meetings, committees and functions as required
- Contributing to research and research supervision
ABOUT YOU
- Registration with AHPRA and a College Fellowship following a primary medical qualification, plus extensive practice-based experience (more than 8 years) and recognised professional expertise in a relevant field
- Experience - Other relevant qualifications, experience and expertise, demonstrating professional and practice-based equivalency as assessed by School including:
- Demonstrated professional leadership and reputation within relevant field(s) and
- Special area of demonstrated expertise as recognised by peers
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to interact effectively with a range of academic, administrative and/or technical staff in a complex environment
- Able to work effectively both independently and in a multidisciplinary team
- A clinical affiliation with the Local Health District/Health Service.
