The School of Agriculture, Food and Wine is seeking a continuing Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Agronomy to lead and encourage an environment of creativity and innovation in the Faculty and engage with the broader academic and professional community to promote and enhance the national and international profile of the University.
The successful appointee will have the opportunity to lead the development of new initiatives relating to plant-soil interaction science research that will contribute to the University achieving its ambitions under the Agrifood and Wine FAME strategy. Research outputs are expected to have national and international impacts that are both scientific and practical, and be of a scope and scale to ensure trans-disciplinary collaboration and significant industry/government engagement. The appointee will be encouraged to build on their existing expertise to introduce innovative approaches to teaching and assessment, and contribute collaboratively to curriculum design for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Agronomy, plant-soil science and how this relates to the fields of agriculture and viticulture, in particular.
The School of Agriculture, Food and Wine is one of several Schools in the Faculty of SET, and represents a world-class concentration of scientific research, education and product conferring capability, with infrastructure and resources at the Waite Campus of the University of Adelaide.
To be successful at Level C, you will need:
- A strong track record of research distinction and impact in Agronomy, plant-soil interaction science or related areas.
- Demonstrated success in attracting independent external research investment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and a very strong track record of high quality peer-reviewed publications in the area of expertise.
- Strong collaboration and negotiation skills with demonstrable ability to initiate and independently lead research activities, particularly in collaboration with industry stakeholders.
- Experience in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, with an ability to contribute to curriculum development and the introduction of novel approaches to teaching.
To be successful at Level D, you will need:
- An outstanding national record of research distinction and impact in Agronomy, plant-soil interaction science or related areas.
- Evidence of an inspirational leadership style that promotes a culture of engagement, collaboration, commitment and exceptional performance.
- Demonstrated ability to develop research programs of significant scope and scale.
- Demonstrated evidence in managing large state and/or national field-based research programs.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently secure research investment from national/international competitive agencies.
