Senior Legal Counsel

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our team. Reporting directly to the General Manager. This role will be based at Oxley QLD or Olympic Park NSW.

Position Summary

Manage the Legal aspects and requirements of Otraco International P/L to ensure the business operates to prescribed standards across all regions operating. This role is responsible for maintaining and promoting the company’s Legal and Commercial processes through active leadership and successful responsive communication and support. Duties include: 

• Manage the legal aspect and function through providing expert advice and support across the business ensuring diligence and professionalism.
• Maintain compliance with contractual agreements.
• Provide legal advice regarding tender and contract terms and conditions, including liaising with clients and prospects if required.
• As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team contribute to the development and implementation of legal related strategies that will add value to the business.
• Work collaboratively and meaningfully with broader operational team leaders.
• Continually support and develop strategies as changes occur.
• Ensure compliance to all legal and statutory requirements.
• Lead by example in adhering and advocating company standards, policies, procedures, and values whilst encouraging a productive and harmonious team environment.
• Support overseas legal requirements when requested.
• In collaboration with the client, peers, and the business, have a strong focus on the delivery of accuracy and innovation for the company.
• Maintain ongoing communication, and provision of necessary advice to stakeholders on legal issues.
• Administer and manage the company contract data base Agiloft.
• Work closely with our People Services and Finance functions to ensure issues are dealt with consistently and effectively.
• Liaise with BMSA Commercial Manager regarding alignment of Otraco’s tender and contract terms & conditions with BMSA
• Active involvement in other company wide initiatives as directed by the GM/Director.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be Tertiary qualified in Law or related discipline professional with significant experience in the Mining and/or Tyre industry. You will be an expert in your field, and well-versed in influencing to achieve suitable outcomes. To be considered, you will bring:

• Tertiary qualifications in Law or related discipline.
• Extensive experience in effectively interpreting the law and applying principles and policies to a business environment.
• Considerable experience in a broad Legal Counsel role.
• Significant experience in a managerial or supervisory position.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Strong computer literacy, specifically Microsoft Office Suite.
