The Opportunity

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our Legal and Governance team at the Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne or Perth office on a full-time basis. 

Reporting to the Group Counsel Construction & Procurement, the Senior Legal Counsel will support the design and delivery of legal advice and services for Construction and Procurement at APA Group, to ensure the efficient management of APA’s legal risk in these areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and assistance for the prepapration, drafting, negotiation and implementation of various construction, works, supply and services agreements in relation to gas, electricity, solar and wind assets
  • Provide legal advice in relation to claims management and disputes
  • Design and implement initiatives to drive efficiency in legal operations
  • Input into cross functional teams, such as the modern slavery working group and sustainablility working group

Your background 

  • Admitted to practice as a legal practitioner in Australia with proven experience and holding a current practising certificate
  • Proven experience post admission, that has been gained through law firm and/or in-house experience with demonstrated subject matter expertise in Construction and Procurement
  • Proven ability to work within tight deadlines, independently and with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills, with an ability to work with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders as a ‘trusted advisor’

The Legal and Governance team support the business to Deliver effective, timely and accurate legal advice, and enable and protect APA’s strategy and objectives. We work collobaratively across all areas of our business.
