Commercial Manager/Senior Legal Counsel – Mining Services

KBE Legal Talent has been briefed by a national Mining Services company to secure a seasoned Senior Lawyer with extensive commercial experience.

Joining as Commercial Manager/Senior Legal Counsel of a preeminent ASX-listed company group, you'll play a pivotal role in developing, managing, and implementing effective commercial practices, encompassing contract management, governance, risk, as well as advising on complex legal matters.

The ideal candidate will have strong legal and commercial experience or, alternatively, be an experienced lawyer with a practical and commercial approach to legal matters. Exceptional interpersonal skills are a must, along with the ability to turn your hand to a range of complex contracts – with a focus on commercial and related legal issues.

This position will provide exposure to a wide range of commercial and legal matters, with some of the key responsibilities including:

• Developing and maintaining commercial, risk, and governance strategies aligned with the company's governance framework.
• Providing expert advice on commercial contracts, leading negotiations, and managing relationships with clients and major service providers.
• Implementing changes alongside the Senior Leadership Team with minimal disruption, ensuring adherence to procedures through regular compliance checks.
• Fostering continuous improvement in commercial practices and governance, including proactive management of property leases.
• Interfacing with legal and insurance advisors, identifying strategic opportunities, and advising on contractual obligations.
• Maintaining positive stakeholder relationships and contribute to Senior Leadership Team reporting.
• Promoting a positive Health, Safety, and Environment Culture.

We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel or Commercial Manager with a current Practising Certificate, or alternatively, a Legal Counsel adept in commercial and contract management with a minimum of 10 years of experience. Outstanding industry knowledge and prior exposure to mining, Mining Services, energy, resources, or infrastructure, will be highly regarded but is not a prerequisite.
