Based in Adelaide and reporting to the Head of Legal, we are seeking to appoint Senior Legal Counsel to provide support across the Liberty Primary Metal Australia (LPMA), business.
This is a chance to work across varying levels of projects, from strategy development through to execution across our diverse operating environment including the Whyalla Steelworks and Port, iron ore and coal mining, production of other inputs to steelmaking, sales and marketing, and corporate work.
Your responsibilities will include
- Provide legal support to LPMA, utilising legal, contractual, commercial and negotiating expertise
- Exercise stewardship and oversight of strategic legal advice and services for LPMA
- Manage legal risks associated with the business, operations and strategy of LPMA
- Support legal compliance and corporate governance within LPMA, in line with GFG corporate standards and programs
- Contribute to the LPMA Legal team, the improvement of legal documents, policies, guidelines, procedures and processes and the development of colleagues across the business
- Work with business team/s to improve decision making and drive favourable outcomes for the business.
You will have the ability to work and engage collaboratively across functional groups to influence and ensure informed decision making by the business. You are also an effective communicator, evaluator of risk and problem solver that business managers can understand and trust.
Skills and qualifications required:
- Bachelor of Laws
- Admitted to practice in an Australian state and a current Practising Certificate
- Post graduate legal experience, including in house experience
- Legal expertise in commercial contracts
- Substantial experience in commodities, contracts, particularly services and construction/project contracts, including drafting and negotiating contracts and disputes

Liberty Primary Metals Australia also incorporates SIMEC Mining.
