Job description

Do you enjoy building good relationships to identify, propose, and carry out logistics projects? And are you a strategic thinker who appreciates aligning overall business goals with logistics development?

As the Senior Logistics Manager at NORDEN, you will be anchoring an innovative approach towards identifying, analyzing and implementing logistics opportunities in Australia consistent with Norden's strategic priorities.

This involves the process of developing and building key networks across the Australian mining and shipping community, creating business cases, composing compelling proposals for clients and planning and optimizing logistics-related activity with vessel and port performance.

You will be working independently in Perth.

A key role in NORDEN's presence in the Australian market

At NORDEN, we aim to expand our presence and footprint in the Australian market. This role has an integral part in project development, requiring you to identify crucial clients and take charge of cultivating genuine and enduring relationships both within and outside the organisation.

External stakeholders will typically be vendors, clients, pool partners and vessel owners. While the internal stakeholders are departments like LCS (Logistics & Climate Solutions), FST (Freight Services & Trading), finance, control, technical and project.

You will report to the team leader of the Australian Logistics team.

The task that awaits you

Your key task is to understand opportunities in the overall value chain and to ensure the continuous development of new and current logistics projects in Australia, supporting NORDEN's ocean freight strategy. To be more concrete the main topics will be to:

  • Build project pipeline and strive to render best-in-class customer service.

  • Actively seek knowledge regarding developing resource opportunities.

  • Actively pursue opportunities to promote NORDEN's capabilities. This could be to engage in conferences.

  • Stay updated on relevant rules and regulations, impacting the way things are run.

  • Utilize financial skills and acumen to develop compelling proposals for clients.

  • Convert ideas to business cases.

  • Collaborate on implementation of projects.

  • Participate in improving systems, procedures and establishing benchmarks.

Your competencies and core qualifications

Besides being able to see yourself working around the above-mentioned topics, to thrive in the position, it is important that you can see yourself in the below statements:

  • You have a proven operational background preferably in Mining but it could also be in Shipping or Logistics.

  • You are familiar with shipping-related SOPs and procedures in Australia.

  • You hold a basic knowledge of port infrastructure.

  • You hold experience in financial modelling of operations.

  • You have experience in the preparation of tender documents and proposals.
