The Senior Manager, Strategic Design and Delivery, is responsible for a cluster of services, including defining the objectives and metrics for these services. You must apply your expertise to understand the clients’ evolving needs and Delivery against them. You will also manage a portfolio of initiatives and manage demand in a complex environment.
The Senior Manager reports to the Director of Higher Education Technologies, and is accountable for all staff, contractors, and vendor contracts within the Strategic Design and Delivery team to ensure effective delivery of enterprise applications to the UQ Community at the highest possible standards. This position focuses on the thought leadership and management of the implementation of new applications within the portfolio to ensure UQ remains at the forefront of the higher education landscape for the delivery of services, experiences and information to students, staff and broader UQ Community.
Key responsibilities will cover Strategic Design and Planning, Consultancy, Demand Management, Emerging technology monitoring, Portfolio Management and initiative delivery, Performance Management, and Relationship Management. This will include, but is not limited to:
Ensuring stakeholders adhere to the strategic management approach through the Technology Master Plan and ITS Governance and producing reports and insights to support strategy management processes.
Contributing to the development of policies, standards and guidelines for strategy development and planning.
Overseeing client requirements, collecting data, delivering analysis and problem resolution, and supporting implementation of solutions if required.
Implementing demand management analysis and planning activities and supporting stakeholders to adopt and adhere to the agreed approach.
Performing what-if analyses and scenario planning; developing insights and proposals to improve business value.
Assessing and documenting the impacts, threats and opportunities of the external environment to the organisation.
Leading complex projects specific to the provision and enhancement of the UQ Digital Environment for the delivery of improved user experience, self-service, business outcomes or collaboration and innovation.
Managing permanent and contracted staff, including workforce planning, recruitment and selection, staff deployment, development, performance management, and change management.
Translating communications/stakeholder engagement strategies into activities and deliverables.
This is a full-time (100%), continuing position at HEW Level 9.
A competitive salary package will be negotiated with the successful candidate commensurate with previous experience. Our salary package will be comprised of base salary plus a generous 17% employer superannuation contribution. As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.
About YouQualifications and training equivalent to a postgraduate degree in IT or related field, or significant progress towards such qualifications, and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Extensive experience in managing the development and support of software and web applications in a complex environment and a superior understanding of technical requirements and management issues related to this.
Extensive experience and proven expertise in managing, leading and motivating a team of staff in a changing environment.
Extensive experience and proven expertise in managing projects, significant procurement activities and budgets to deliver quality IT outcomes for clients in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Proven strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to conceptualise, establish and implement new initiatives and innovative solutions within a specified framework.
Well-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication and negotiation skills and proven capacity to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to maintain a current working knowledge of relevant emerging technologies, research, methodologies and best practices and develop and deliver services that utilise best practice and appropriate technology to meet the University’s business requirements.
Outstanding people leadership experience evidenced by strong people management skills, exceptional teamwork and collaboration
