The Position:
Compass Group Australia is on a significant growth trajectory and has an ambition to grow the business intelligently at an accelerated rate to become a $3bn business by 2027. This newly created role supports this ambition by focusing on our strategic framework, our M&A strategy and improvements across our existing contracts. Responsibilities include financial modelling, structuring and executing on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity, providing analytical support in delivering our growth strategy, and providing Contract Improvement support across CGA.
The successful candidate will assist with handling multiple M&A projects, focusing on the execution of transactions, drafting advocacy materials, and assisting in the full transaction execution process. The candidate will also use commercial know-how to support our strategic decision-making processes, present and summarise complex information, and add value on onerous and troublesome contracts by working seamlessly with operational, commercial and legal teams.
- Handle multiple M&A projects, focusing on the execution of the transactions
- Undertake M&A market research, providing solid understanding to business on potential targets
- Lead financial modelling and valuation exercises
- Assist in the full transaction execution process, co-ordination of due diligence phases and to act as the main contact person through transactions
- Provide support to achieving our $3bn business ambition by focusing on commercial analysis around supporting strategic decision making, summarising, presenting and communicating complex information, undertaking strategic reviews and analysis for portfolio optimisation
- Providing high level support and advice to operational and commercial teams, particularly on onerous / troublesome contracts that require quick turnarounds in financial performance
- Act as the conduit between operational, commercial and legal teams to improve contract performance operationally and financially, whilst also analysing contractual mechanisms and levers to negotiate more favourable terms in a timely manner
- Partner with operational/commercial teams to lead discussions with external clients in contract renegotiations
- In times of increased activity, to support the bid team in estimation and documentation preparation
The Person:
- Finance or Accounting degree or a related field and CA/CPA would be desirable
- Demonstrated experience of 7 to 10 years in a similar role
- Corporate Finance and Contract Management experience preferred
- Extensive technical and analytical skills
- Ability to effectively manage team workflow
- Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and display excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong communication, presentation and project management skills
- Proven ability to produce high quality and impactful documents for internal/external use
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and web-based software applications
- Ability to self-manage work
- Comfortable and competent in front of executives and clients
- Ability to drive stakeholder engagement and deliver superior service levels
