Fortescue Hydrogen Systems, Product Development team, is presently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our fast paced and high performing team to design cutting edge green hydrogen production systems.

In this role you will be working with a team of engineers in the Balance of Plant team developing and operating hydrogen test plants while also having direct reports of a team of 2-3 Mechanical Engineers.

Scope will include from early concept engineering and all activities to operations.

• Lead the design, construction, commissioning of Mechanical and Piping systems for Balance of Plant team.
• Define Mechanical Engineering specifications and then lead mechanical design against specification.
• Evaluate, engage, and manage equipment vendors / technical specialists for supply of components including writing scopes of work and ongoing contract management.
• Produce and maintain technical and engineering documentation throughout design, prototyping and operation life cycle.
• Provide input to maintenance planning for Mechanical Equipment.
• Collaborate with multidiscipline team including engineers, scientists, project management, and workshop execution teams.
• Carry out Design calculations, datasheet development, technical proposals, material selection and suitability for static equipment and piping.
• Participate in FMECA and other design/safety review workshops (e.g. HAZOP/LOPA) and uphold Safety and Process Safety principles through inherent safety in design.
• Lead Team of 2-3 Mechanical Engineers providing functional support.

• Tertiary engineering qualifications (Mechanical Engineering)
• Minimum 10 years of detailed design experience.
• Construction and commissioning experience of static equipment and piping systems.
• Hydrogen / Oil and Gas experience preferred.
• Knowledge of standards and regulations associated with design, installation, and testing.
• Experience dealing with regulators such as DMIRS.
• Experience with CAD modelling software ideal.
