Position Overview:

Verra Mobility is actively seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to join our team, championing innovation in hardware development. The ideal candidate will join a team who provides innovative hardware solutions, collaborates with 3rd party design firms, and ensures seamless product and manufacturing integration.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Innovative Development: Collaborate with product managers, developers, and engineers to create innovative advanced hardware solutions, emphasizing cameras, radars, batteries, and mechatronics. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to pioneer new solutions and enhance existing solutions with state-of-the-art technology; and introduce and support these solutions into manufacturing and production.
  • 3rd Party Design Collaboration: Maintain partnerships with 3rd party design firms and vendors, driving collaborative efforts to innovate and integrate cutting-edge hardware components. Set clear expectations, ensuring alignment with project objectives, deliverables, and quality standards.
  • Product and Manufacturing Integration: Drive the seamless integration of innovative hardware solutions across product development and manufacturing phases. Streamline processes to optimize hardware manufacturability, scalability, and innovation. Design in-production test hardware, troubleshoot production problems and create, modify, and improve production processes and documentation. Create, process, and maintain Engineering Change Notices (ECN's), Bill of Materials (BOM's) and monitor component manufacturing End of Life (EOL). Assess, test, and qualify alternative components for production and type approval variation work. Create and maintain engineering drawings and production work instructions.
  • Testing, Evaluation, and Documentation: Oversee rigorous testing and evaluation procedures to ensure the reliability, performance, and compliance of innovative hardware systems. Analyze test data, troubleshoot issues, and drive iterative improvements. Document findings and progress reports, generate vendor test SOP's and conduct training sessions for key stakeholders. Participate in traceability programs for regulatory compliance (i.e. FCC, UL, EMC)
  • Hardware Support: Provide engineering support globally via a hardware intake ticketing system, create site installation drawings and instructions, provide on-site technical engineering support during installations and customer demonstrations (includes interstate and overseas travel). Manage offshore manufacturing projects (i.e. Taiwan, Thailand, USA).

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a Technology/Engineering Field (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role
  • Manufacturing Integration: Proficiency in integrating innovative hardware solutions into final products, optimizing for manufacturability, scalability, and innovation.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of hardware design principles, CAD software and simulation tools for design and analysis, and excellent experience with Microsoft 365 is a must. SAP by Design and Atlassian Jira & Confluence knowledge is preferred.
