  • Total Indicative Remuneration - MDP4 - Senior Medical Practitioner - $188,165 to $242,036 p.a
  • Note: The Total Indicative Remuneration is inclusive of Award Salary, Superannuation, any relevant allowance and any other monetary benefits.
  • Employment Full time - Term Contract (temporary up to 7 May 2027)

The Women’s & Children’s Health Network provides state of the art health care for women, babies, children and young people across South Australia. We are the state’s leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions as well as being SA’s largest maternity and obstetric service.

Our community-based services also reach hundreds of thousands of babies, children and young people, their families and communities across South Australia through our various services and programs in areas such as our Mental Health, Child & Family Health services, Youth Health and Aboriginal Health services.

Join our Paediatric Intensive Care team and contribute to providing South Australia’s women, babies, children and young people with the best health care within our hospital.

The Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit as a Senior Medical Practitioneron a longterm contract at 1.0FTE from 6 May 2024 to 7 May 2027.

The Senior Medical Practitioner (SMP) works with limited direction or supervision to provide comprehensive, effective and efficient Paediatric Critical Care Services to WCH inpatients and outpatients by:

  • Managing the care of critical care presentations and PICU inpatients, including the coordination of investigations, supervision of RMOs and Registrars, discussion with patients / families, liaison with statutory authorities and patient discharge.
  • Participating in the Department’s teaching and continuing education program and contributing to the quality management activities within the Department as directed and supervised by the clinical Head.
  • Participating in Departmental research activities.

About You

In this specialised role, you are expected to have a Bachelor ofMedicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner.

To be successful in this role, you will use your clinical skills appropriate for the duties performed in the work unit. You should be able to work as an effective team member in a multi-disciplinary environment and communicate effectively with customers and other staff, in what can be at times a stressful and high workload environment. You should have at least five years’ well advanced experience in one or more fields of medicine.
