THE OPPORTUNITY:
Reporting to the Mine Planning Manager, the Senior Mine Planning Engineer is responsible for developing mine designs and layouts and medium-term schedules to optimise current and future mining operations. Responsible for both site and corporate stakeholders with high level technical expertise to support the Company’s operations.
This is a permanent full-time (Monday to Friday) position based at our West Perth office, with regular travel to our Pilgangoora Operation in the Pilbara region.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Deliver timely and accurate mine designs, plans, layouts, financial reports and schedules to optimize extraction of the ore and development of the ore deposits.
- Development of cost effective and coordinated waste rock landform development strategies.
- Support delivery of Mining and Cost Improvement studies and projects with accurate mining engineering inputs and analysis including mine designs, mine plans and financials.
- Provide guidance and general oversight with the development of medium term mine plans aligned with the short and long-term life-of-Mine Planning horizons.
- Liaise with peers across the operation to identify and monitor key inputs to the plans and analyze and benchmark performance to the inputs.
- Review planning systems and procedures as required to ensure alignment of short, medium, and long-term life-of-mine plan requirements to deliver and maintain a robust planning system.
- Assist in the Ore Reserve estimation process, including reconciliation of planned verses actual.
- Assist with mining equipment selection and contractor tendering processes.
- Collaborate and assist with peer review analysis to identify new business opportunities.
ABOUT YOU:
- Degree qualified in Mining Engineering (or equivalent)
- WA Driver’s Licence
- Experience in strategic planning, life-of-Mine Planning and site-based production planning
- Proficient in the use of Mine Planning software programs such as Whittle, Alastri, Vulcan, Surpac, Minemax and MineSched
- Cost modelling and cost management experience
- High level of competency in report writing
