The Senior Ministerial Officer, Office of the Chief Executive, provides a critical support function and essential coordination point, enabling effective liaison between ministerial offices and across the agency. The Senior Ministerial Officer is responsible for ensuring the effective organisation, drafting, review, triage and tracking of items received from and sent to ministerial offices, including but not limited to ministerial correspondence, committee and meeting briefings, requests (including across-government reporting), and Parliament and Cabinet documents. The successful candidate will also be responsible for reporting on the timely action and management of correspondence and requests.The role requires being adaptable to organisational priorities, often multitasking within short timeframes. The successful candidate will possess a high level of verbal and written communication skills, the ability to think laterally, and proficiency in Microsoft Office software. Attention to detail is also vital to the success of the role. The successful candidate is expected to actively participate as a member of the team to manage heavy workloads and tight timeframes, and achieve high-level objectives, including providing leadership, mentoring and training of other staff, and contribute to the achievement of the Department’s strategic objectives. The role also requires the ability to assess correspondence based on experience and knowledge of the Department, liaise with the Ministerial offices, provide recommendations for actions to resolve correspondence enquiries, and a possess a sound knowledge and understanding of Departmental and ministerial structures and workflows.Special Conditions
The successful candidate will be required to provide a National Police Check prior to employment with the Department which must be renewed every three years.Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel may be required.Tenure of Vacancy
