The Networks team within eSolutions are responsible for the design, deployment and operation across all aspects of the Monash network including campus, wireless, data centres, cloud and Internet services. The Networks team works closely with other technology specialist groups in order to deliver solutions and services for the University.
The Opportunity
We are seeking Senior Network Engineers to focus on 2 criteria.
One would be a Data Centre Focus where you will be directly responsible for projects and support relating to the Monash Data Centre, providing technical expertise across our core networking infrastructure and public cloud environments within AWS and Azure.
The second focus is on Security where you will be responsible for projects and support relating to the Monash Networks.
Experience best suited to this role includes VPN, Palo Alto FW’s, Splunk and Citrix Load Balancers automation.
Both roles will require advanced knowledge of Cisco Enterprise networking in a large environment, experience in managing and planning relevant projects, conducting tests, carrying out routine tasks and incident problem resolution with some capacity for modelling and forecasting.
Critical to the success in the role is the ability to engage and influence senior level stakeholders, coordinating the planning for change and improvements to ensure the optimal delivery of system benefits aligned with user needs. You will also be responsible for providing expert advice as a mentor and escalation point and building capability by adopting and promoting best practice, policies and standards in relation to infrastructure platforms across the eSolutions portfolio.
About you!
To be successful in these roles you will have
- Strong skills in enterprise grade network hardware/software, network security and cloud
- Substantial experience in the planning, development and implementation of complex networks and/or infrastructure
- Key infrastructure experience: Cisco ACI and Vmware NSX-T, Nexus and Catalyst switching, Internet Routing (BGP), MPLS,EVPN, Citrix NetScaler Load Balancers, Palo Alto FWs, VPN and Global Protect
- Experience and knowledge of network systems and Automation. Python, Ansible, Git as well as detailed knowledge of Linux systems and networking
- Advanced operational knowledge of networking systems within large scale enterprise networks along with advanced operational knowledge of security devices, firewalls
- Extensive experience and specialist skills in the planning, design, configuration and maintenance of networking/communications infrastructure, including the ability to support a variety of technologies
- Appropriate industry certification such as CCNP or CCIE
The following skills and experience would be considered an advantage:
- Detailed experience and knowledge of IPv6
- Experience with Grafana, Splunk, Cacti, Netflow, IXIA, Statseeker
- Experience supporting BIND DNS
- Experience with Cumulus Linux
The position requires being rostered “on-call” outside of normal working hours for physical attendance (or remote log-in) when called back to work at short notice.
